The start of the 2015 Qatar Total Open is just a couple of days away with more confirmation of players for the tournament.
The qualifying draw commences on Saturday 21 February at 11am with the second round play on Sunday 22 February from 3pm.
Qualifying includes many talented players from all over the world such as talented Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic who is already ranked in the world’s top 40 players. Britain’s Heather Watson is also in the draw along with Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova who has previously reached the semifinals at Wimbledon.
Other players to watch out for include German Julia Goerges, Russian Elena Vesnina and former French Open winner Francesca Schiavone of Italy.
Three is also a couple of players from ‘Downunder’ in the form of Aussie Jarmila Gajdosova and Kiwi Marina Erakovic.
Representing the Gulf region will be Fatima Al Nabhani form Oman who will play in singles qualifying and doubles main draw.
“The QTF is pleased to have Omani player Fatima Al Nabhani as a wildcard into the main draw of the doubles at the 2015 Qatar Total Open and also as a wildcard into the strong singles qualifying tournament as well. She represents the Gulf States and gives many local people another player to follow.
It should be noted that we are also honored to have tennis great Martina Hingis returning to play the doubles here in Doha. She has previously won the singles and the doubles title at the Qatar Total Open and adds even more class to the top player field at the tournament,” said Qatar Total Open Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi.
The tournament is held at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex, 23-28 February with qualifying taking place 21-22 February.
