Roadworks converting Sheraton and Dafna roundabouts to signal controlled intersections will be finished and the Corniche road will be completely opened to traffic on Sunday, 16 March, two weeks ahead of schedule.
The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, revealed that the opening will take place after laying the final asphalt layer and activating the traffic lights at the two intersections.
Ashghal has thanked all road users who have been tolerant with traffic congestions for the past two months.
The authority also expressed its gratitude to the traffic police and Lekhwiya, ensured traffic flow without blocking the construction and infrastructure works, as well as Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), and other government entitites for their support.
Around 60 machines and 600 workers were deployed around the clock at Corniche Street.
The project also included extending infrastructure utility works, including treated sewage effluent pipes in the Corniche Street’s median and old roundabouts locations.
