HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held talks with Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a meeting in Istanbul yesterday.
The Emir and the Turkish Premier discussed bilateral ties and ways of enhancing them, as well as the current situation in the Middle East, especially the latest developments in Syria.
Following the meeting, the Emir attended a luncheon hosted by the Turkish prime minister in his honour. The official delegation accompanying the Emir also attended the luncheon.
Earlier, the Emir met President Abdullah Gul of Turkey at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.
During the meeting, the Emir and the Turkish president reviewed the prospects for co-operation between the two countries and ways of enhancing them to serve the common interests, and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
The Emir arrived yesterday morning in the Turkish capital of Ankara on a working visit.
He was welcomed at Esenboga International Airport by Ankara Governor Aladdin Yuksel, Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkey, Salem Mubarak Shafi al-Shafi, and staff members of the Qatari embassy. Later in the afternoon he flew to Istanbul where he was greeted at Ataturk International Airport by Turkish Minister of Energy Taner Yildiz and Istanbul Governor Huseyin Avni.
