Aspire Zone Foundation’s (AZF) Welcome to Aspire Ramadan Festival has been launched with a range of community-inspired events designed to cater to the entire family.
To kick off the festivities, the AZF family tent located between Aspire Park and Hyatt Plaza hosted a fun-filled clown and juggler act on Thursday. This will be followed by a performance by Bahraini singer Hala Turk tonight.
Hussein al-Qahtani, director of communications and public relations at AZF, said: “As family is a key aspect of Ramadan, we have organised an array of activities that can be enjoyed by all. Thursday marked the start of these festivities. An exciting collection of family and religious events will be on offer every weekend, including the fantastic Hala Turk who will perform this evening, and a series of inspiring religious teachings led by Islamic preachers.”
Alongside the live performances, a range of religious events organised in collaboration with Qatar Charity will take place this weekend. AZF will hold daily Taraweeh prayers at Aspire Mosque, followed by educational lectures led by renowned Islamic preachers. This weekend, Sheikh Wagdi Ghoneim will present a lecture titled “Scientific Miracles in Sky and Space”, while Sheikh Ahmed al-Ferjabi will give a talk, “Miracle in the Qur’an”. Both lectures will be held in the tent set up next to Aspire Mosque. All weekend activities will commence at 9pm and continue until midnight.
Thursday also marked the launch of the Al Baraha programme. Hosted in the Ladies Club at Aspire Zone, families will be invited to share daily buffets and enjoy Islamic Tawasheeh (religious songs), while children will be given the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops.
AZF will also host Walk in Aspire Dome throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. It is part of the “step into health” initiative launched by AZF, which aims to encourage individuals to lead healthy lifestyles through exercise and walking.
Welcome to Aspire is AZF’s third annual Ramadan Festival. The event has grown significantly and now includes a range of sports tournaments, including basketball, football, handball and volleyball, as well as a collection of cultural, religious and family-oriented activities. The festival is open to all members of the community and demonstrates AZF’s commitment to encouraging positive lifestyle changes during Ramadan.
