QATARI delegation in Sudan… inauguration of Hassad Food Company’s project

A Qatari delegation is visiting Sudan to take part in the inauguration of a power line to Hassad Food Company (HFC)’s $205mn agricultural project in Abu Hamad, which is financed by the Qatar government and is expected to be completed within 24 months, local daily Arrayah has reported.

The delegation is headed by HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Jabr al-Thani, Minister’s Assistant for International Co-operation Affairs, and includes Nassir al-Hajri, chairman of HFC.

Today, Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will open the 310km power line, which includes four transformer stations – Berber, Al Ghbash, Abu Hamad and Hassad, the report says.

Osama Abdullah M al-Hassan, Sudanese Minister for Electricity, expressed gratitude to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Qatar’s government and its people for financing the project. The minister also referred to the various development projects in Sudan in which Qatar was involved, according to the report.

The commissioner of Abu Hamad said the Hassad agricultural project would contribute to achieving “Arab food security”, adding that it would be a model project involving the most modern equipment for various agricultural processes.
