Qatar Development Bank (QDB) is sponsoring the Qatari private sector at The Big 5 2013 – International Building & Construction Show through its export arm, Tasdeer. The event is concluding tomorrow at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Tasdeer is hosting Qatar’s national pavilion and showcasing 33 national companies with the aim of raising the profile of Qatari exporters and products within the international building and construction industry.
This is the second year running that QDB has hosted Qatar’s national pavilion to showcase products of the Qatari private sector at The Big 5. The number of exhibitors participating in the event has increased from 22 last year to 33.
The Big 5 is the Middle East and North Africa (Mena)’s largest construction industry event with more than 2,500 exhibitors representing 75 countries across the world.
At a time when construction is booming across the Middle East and North Africa, international companies see the Mena region as the ideal platform for launching innovative industry ideas and practices.
“I’m very pleased with the vast attendance at the stand of QDB, which is always keen to sponsor and support private sector companies in Qatar through its export arm – Tasdeer — and give them the opportunity to expand in global markets. Establishing Qatar as a leading exporter in the building and construction industry and as a strong competitor in global markets is an important step for the bank,” said Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa, chief executive officer of QDB, who was present in the Qatari pavilion at the event.
