Qatar Petroleum’s Industrial Cities Directorate and the major industries at the Mesaieed Industrial City recently held their “inaugural mutual cooperation” meeting, which was attended by the top management of all the major companies located at the MIC.
Participants included officials from the QP Refinery and QP Gas Operations as well as from Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qatar Fertiliser Company, Qatar Vinyl Company, Qatar Aluminium, Qatar Fuel Additives Company, Qatar Chemical Company and Qatar Steel.
In his opening address, Abdulaziz al-Muftah, director (Industrial Cities) said that he looked forward to establishing a regular and sustained mechanism for engagement between the industries and QP to address issues of mutual concern and facilitate their business operations in MIC.
During the recent meeting, QP’s Industrial Cities Directorate presented its strategic objectives and key focus areas, which are in line with the requirements of the state and industries as well as with QP’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“The progress on various issues of common interest encompassing health, safety, environment, security and various infrastructure development projects in MIC was also reviewed, and the accomplishments already realised were recognised,” QP said in a release.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the leaders of industries in MIC endorsed QP’s proposal to establish the MIC Chief Executives’ Committee, which would be the “vehicle for continued engagement” between industries and QP’s Industrial Cities Directorate, going forward.
Representatives from industries and QP will meet shortly to finalise the details of the MIC Chief Executives’ Committee. This will be presented at the next mutual cooperation meeting in June 2014. Gulf Times
