Iran firms seek to invest in Qatar, says official. Iranian companies are seeking to invest in the Qatari market and to forge partnerships with Qatari companies to boost economic and trade ties between the two countries, a high ranking official from Iran has announced. Khosrow Taj, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, made the statement during a meeting with Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani at the chamber’s headquarters on Tuesday.
Sheikh Khalifa and Taj, who was accompanied by an Iranian business delegation, discussed Qatar-Iran economic and trade relations and ways of enhancing them to boost both countries’ economy and trade exchange. Taj emphasised that a large number of Iranian companies “are looking forward” to enter the Qatari market and establish trade partnerships with Qatari companies.
He also expressed hope that the meeting between Qatari and Iranian businessmen held yesterday at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel would further enhance trade between both parties. Sheikh Khalifa said Qatar Chamber “is ready to bridge Iranian businessmen with their Qatari counterparts with the aim of strengthening cooperation between both countries’ companies.”
According to Qatar Chamber figures, Qatar-Iran trade volume reached QR341mn in 2016.
